As if the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell’s 1984 now existed, with its motto ‘Ignorance is Strength,’ this Court is now asked to determine whether the federal government has the power it claims—to dissemble and disassemble historical truths when it has some domain over historical facts. It does not.

The Trump regime has turned a potential vehicle of foreign propaganda into an active tool for right-wingnut domestic propaganda.  China and the US signed off on a deal whereby ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, sells 80% of its US business to a consortium of investors led by Oracle, private equity firm Silver Lake, and MGX, a state-owned investment firm in the UAE.  The video app has 1.6–2.0 billion monthly active users worldwide as of 2025, representing engagement from roughly a quarter or more of all internet users. It is now controlled by what Forbes calls a "web of billionaire pals, partners and Trump supporters" willing to juice the TikTok algorithm in support of their reactionary political views.  Trump pal Larry Ellison, a frequent visitor to the White House and the Winter Palace, owns Oracle. Ellison bought Paramount studio for his baby boy, who installed Bari Weiss at CBS with orders to turn it into Faux News Lite.  MGX, an Emirati investment company, invested $2 billion in USD1, a stablecoin developed by the Trump family’s cryptocurrency firm, World Liberty Financial, to invest in the crypto exchange Binance.
